1. Overview

RadDecoder is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do not create user accounts, and we do not store the content of your radiology reports. This policy explains what limited information we do collect and how it is used.

2. Information We Collect

Report text (transient)

When you submit a radiology report for explanation, the text is transmitted to our servers and processed by an AI model (Amazon Bedrock). The report text is not stored at any point — it is processed in memory and discarded immediately after the explanation is generated. We do not log, retain, or analyze report content.

As a best-effort measure, our system attempts to detect and remove common personal identifiers (such as patient name, MRN, and contact information) from report text before it is sent to the AI model. This scrubbing is not guaranteed to catch all personal information, and you should avoid submitting reports containing sensitive identifiers where possible.

Usage counter

To enforce the free usage limit, we store an anonymized usage counter in our database. This counter is associated with a one-way cryptographic hash (SHA-256) derived from your IP address and browser user agent — neither value is stored individually, and the hash cannot be reversed to identify you. This record expires automatically after 365 days.

Payment information

Payments are processed by Stripe. RadDecoder does not receive or store your payment card details. Stripe's privacy policy governs how your payment information is handled. When you make a payment, Stripe may collect information necessary to process the transaction.

Standard web logs

Our infrastructure (Amazon CloudFront) may generate standard access logs that include IP addresses, timestamps, and requested URLs. These logs are used for security monitoring and operational purposes and are not used to identify individual users.

3. How We Use Information

The limited information we collect is used solely to:

We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Third-Party Services

RadDecoder uses the following third-party services to operate:

5. HIPAA Notice

RadDecoder is not a Covered Entity or Business Associate under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). The Service is a consumer-facing educational tool and does not store protected health information (PHI). You use the Service at your own discretion, and we encourage you to be mindful of the personal information included in any report you submit.

6. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information through the Service, please contact us.

7. Data Retention

The only persistent data we store is the anonymized usage counter described above, which expires automatically after 365 days. No report content is retained.

8. Your Rights

Because we do not store personal information tied to your identity, we have limited ability to respond to data access or deletion requests. If you have concerns about information that may have been retained, please contact us at the address below.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
